Course: Creative Code

In the course Creative Code, I learned to program and design visual, generative, and moving images. The focus was on using code as a creative tool — not just to build functional systems, but to shape atmosphere, emotion, and experience.

As part of the course, we were given the task of creating a “safe space” in collaboration with safe space. The concept explored how digital visuals, light, motion, and spatial elements can influence how people feel in a social environment — especially in high-energy settings where sensory impressions are intense.

For the final exhibition at the school, we transformed a space using projected moving visuals, programmed animations, and physical decorations. Through code, we created flowing, organic visual landscapes that responded to rhythm and mood, aiming to evoke calmness, softness, and inclusion within an otherwise dynamic rave context.

The project became an exploration of:

• Creative coding as an artistic practice

• How digital visuals affect emotional perception

• Designing atmosphere through movement, color, and rhythm

• Translating the abstract idea of “safety” into a spatial experience

Rather than defining safety as something static, we approached it as a feeling — something that can be supported through light, visuals, and thoughtful design choices.
